Putin's Russia

Norway sounds the alarm: Putin is rearming on the Kola Peninsula

Russia is carrying out an rearmament on the Kola Peninsula, says Norway's Defense Minister Tore Sandvik in an interview with The Telegraph.

- We are NATO's eyes and ears in this area and we see that they are testing new weapons, such as hypersonic missiles. They are also testing nuclear-powered torpedoes and nuclear warheads.

The Kola Peninsula is home to the Russian Northern Fleet and also houses the world's largest concentrated nuclear arsenal. Sandvik tells the newspaper that he believes that Russia is partly preparing for a possible war with NATO and that one of Vladimir Putin's goals is to take naval control of the entire Arctic.

Children in occupied Ukraine are being militarized by Russians

High-ranking Russian officers are running training programs for young people from occupied Ukraine with the aim of preparing them for service in the Russian army, a review by the Kyiv Independent shows.

The program is run by the Russian network Warrior Center for Military and Patriotic Education, which was founded by order of Putin in 2022.

The teenagers are placed in military camps in Volgograd, Russia, where they are subjected to strict discipline and war-like exercises. Among other things, they learn to fly drones, dig trenches, clear mines and use weapons and grenades. In 2024 alone, almost 1,300 Ukrainian children were placed in the camps.

The Kyiv Independent has identified 25 instructors. Most of them have fought in Ukraine. The highest-ranking person in charge of the program is Viktor Vodolatsky, a member of the State Duma who received a medal for the “liberation” of the Crimean peninsula.
