Trump's Asia trip
Dancing on the red carpet as Trump lands in Asia
A red carpet and a sea of American and Malaysian flags greeted US President Donald Trump when he landed in Malaysia on Sunday, writes AFP. The visit is the first stop on the president's five-day Asia trip, Trump's first since returning to the White House.
Trump was also welcomed by a group of traditional dancers and even took the opportunity to dance a little with them.
The first official point of the trip was to attend when Thailand and Cambodia signed the peace agreement that was negotiated with American help earlier this year - an agreement that Trump calls "historic".
- It could save millions of lives, Trump said during the ceremony, according to Reuters.
Budget crisis in the US
Billionaire Timothy Mellon is identified as the mysterious donor in the US
Billionaire Timothy Mellon, one of Donald Trump's top donors, is identified as the man behind the donation of just over 1.2 billion kronor that will pay the military during the shutdown of the government apparatus. This is reported by the New York Times, which refers to sources.
Both Trump and the Pentagon have confirmed that they received money from an anonymous donor, without mentioning him by name.
Mellon, grandson of former Treasury Secretary Andrew W Mellon, has donated hundreds of millions to Trump and the Republicans in recent years. He currently lives in Wyoming and keeps a low profile.
- He prefers that his name not be mentioned, which is quite unusual in the world I come from, Trump said on Friday.
