The world's response
Saab missiles on the agenda when Zelenskyj meets Starmer
During
Volodymyr Zelenskyj's visit to the UK on Friday, long-range missiles
are high on the agenda, several media outlets report.
- I think
there is more we can do, especially in terms of long-range capability,
and of course the important work of the coalition of the willing for the
necessary security guarantees, says Prime Minister Keir Starmer
according to AFP.
Kyiv currently has a particular interest in Taurus missiles, which were developed by German EADS and Swedish Saab.
Zelenskyj
received a grand reception in London, where he also met King Charles.
At X he thanks the British for their "unwavering support for our
people".
Gripen deal
Expert: The deal could attract Russian attention
Sweden's potentially record-breaking Jas Gripen deal with Ukraine could attract Russian attention. This is what Tony Ingesson, a lecturer in intelligence analysis at Lund University, tells TV4 Nyheterna.
Saab has signaled that many new hires are needed. However, the company has long been an interesting target for Russian intelligence gathering and is very used to handling security challenges, according to Ingesson.
A greater risk is the subcontractors - there the Russians could find security flaws and get into sensitive stages of production, he believes.
- You don't need to have access to technical data or the like. If you get someone in the right place, you can at least create production disruptions through various types of sabotage
