White House Confirms: Trump to Meet Xi in a Week
The summit between the US and Chinese presidents, Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, is scheduled to take place in South Korea on Thursday next week. This was confirmed by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt during a press conference, according to Bloomberg.
The presidents are expected to discuss trade tensions during the meeting. It will be the first time the two leaders have met since Donald Trump was sworn in for his second term.
The stakes are high in the trade conflicts. The ongoing “truce” in the tariff war between the countries expires on November 10. At the same time, Trump has threatened a new shock increase in tariffs starting at the end of the month if China does not withdraw its export restrictions on critical earth metals.

Sources: Macron wants EU to threaten China with “trade bazooka”
During today’s EU summit, French President Emmanuel Macron argued that the Union should consider using its heaviest weapon in trade matters, the so-called trade bazooka, against China. Bloomberg’s sources state this.
Macron believes, according to the information, that the EU should keep all options on the table when it comes to putting pressure on China. This after the country introduced export restrictions on rare earth metals.
The French government has not wanted to comment on the information.
