Thousands of Lobbyists Have Participated in Climate Summits

Thousands of lobbyists linked to the fossil fuel industry have participated in the climate summits of the past four years, The Guardian reports based on a list from the Kick Big Polluters Out network. According to the newspaper, this is 5,350 lobbyists from over 1,000 companies, organizations and foundations.

90 of the actors who sent representatives accounted for over half of global gas and oil production last year.

– The place that should be about science and people has been transformed into a trade fair for carbon dioxide trading, says activist Adilson Vieira.

Next week, the COP30 climate summit begins in Brazil.
 

The King Expects Tough Negotiations at COP30

King Carl XVI Gustaf gave a speech when the world's countries gathered in Brazil for the major climate summit COP30 on Thursday, reports SVT Nyheter. The King spoke about the importance of reaching the goal from the Paris Agreement and global warming.

He tells the channel that the Swedish delegation has "set the bar" for the negotiations that start next week.

- There will certainly be tough negotiations in the coming week.
