The debate on screen time

Exceptions defended: “We must be careful”

Several Danish opposition parties are critical of the fact that the new ban on social media for children does not fully cover all children under the age of 15. The proposal contains an exception that allows parents to decide for themselves whether even younger children – down to 13 years old – can use social media.

Minister for Digitalization Caroline Stage rejects the criticism.

“We must be careful not to create rules that are too square,” she says, according to TV2.

She further says that there may be situations where parents “have a different opinion,” without giving any details.
