USA: Several sick from suspicious package at air base

Several people are reported to have fallen ill after a “suspicious package” arrived at Joint Base Andrews – an air base often used by President Donald Trump.

Two buildings have been evacuated at the base in Maryland, reports Axios.

It is unclear exactly what happened. Several individuals became ill after someone opened the package in question on Thursday, an Air Force spokesperson said in an email that was reported by several media outlets. CNN's sources said the package contained a white powder.

The sickened individuals were treated and are in stable condition. An investigation has been launched.

Air Force One landed at Joint Base Andrews as recently as Wednesday, as President Donald Trump returned to the capital area from Florida.
