Haavisto upset by Russian action: "Unreasonable"
Finnish
Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto reacts strongly to the fact that Russia has frozen the accounts of the Finnish representation in the country.
- It is unreasonable to destroy diplomatic cooperation in this way, he says to Hufvudstadsbladet.
It was on April 27 that the Finnish representation in Russia discovered that Russia had frozen the Russian bank accounts of the Finnish Embassy in Moscow and the Finnish Consulate General. According to Haavisto, the reason is that Russia wants to reciprocate EU sanctions, reports Yle.
In the worst case, this could lead to Finland now having to pay its rents in Russia by "running with wads of banknotes", says Haavisto to Hufvudstadsbladet.
Russia has not yet given an explanation as to why it has frozen Finland's bank accounts.

Swedish politician on a secret visit to Kyiv - had to seek shelter during air raids
Seven Swedish members of the Riksdag have recently made a secret visit to Ukraine, reports Aftonbladet.
The politicians from the foreign affairs committee were in Kyiv in connection with the intense Russian air attack last night and had to seek shelter in the hotel shelter. Morgan Johansson (S), vice chairman of the committee, says they were woken up by the shelling at three in the morning.
- Bangs came closer and closer. We had to put on clothes and go down to the hotel shelter in the basement. We spent a few hours there before they blew the danger over. It turned out to have been one of the more intense attacks seen in a long time, says Johansson.
In addition to Johansson, Aron Emilsson (SD), Kerstin Ljunggren (C), Joar Forssell (L), Magnus Berntsson (KD), Håkan Svenneling (V) and Ann-Sofie Alm (M) also participated.
