Yellen: It is important that the US and China maintain a good relationship
It is of great importance that the US and China maintain their relationship in order to cooperate on global challenges. That's what US Finance Minister Janet Yellen says, AP writes.
The statement comes a day after US President Joe Biden compared Chinese leader Xi Jinping to dictators, drawing strong criticism from both China and Russia.
- I think it is important, as President Biden also does, that the world's two largest economies can work together to meet the global challenges, Yellen says at a press conference.

Six fight for their lives - the cause of the explosion is being investigated
Six of the 50 people who were injured in the gas explosion in Paris yesterday are being treated for life-threatening injuries, writes BFM TV. Meanwhile, rescue workers are still searching for a missing person.
- The search operation continues, a police officer told the news agency.
The cause of the explosion is still being investigated and around a hundred people have still not been allowed to return to their homes. The building is located in the popular Latin Quarter, near the Sorbonne University.

The heat wave in Asia
New heat record in Beijing - hottest day in 60 years
A new heat record for the month of June has been taken in Beijing, where a temperature of 41.1 degrees has been measured today, the BBC reports. It is the hottest June day in over 60 years, according to the China Meteorological Administration.
The city has been affected by a long heat wave which is expected to continue until the end of June.
