The cannabis debate
Illegal cannabis cafe in Oslo closed by police - managed to sell for SEK 50,000
The queue was long on the streets of Oslo when an illegal cannabis cafe opened its doors in the Norwegian capital on Saturday.
- There will be soft drinks and books, but the main thing is cannabis, says the cafe's founder Roar Mikalsen to NRK.
However, it only took about an hour before the police arrived and closed the cafe. During the time the cafe was open, they managed to sell drugs for 50,000 Norwegian kroner.
The purpose of illegally offering cannabis for sale was to start a debate about the country's drug policy.
It is unclear whether Mikalsen is suspected of any crime.
