The FBI warns of new hate crimes ahead of the anniversary
Ahead of the anniversary of Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, the US warns of new threats. In a joint statement, the FBI and the US Department of Homeland Security write that the anniversary "may be a motivating factor for violent extremists and hate crime perpetrators to commit acts of violence".
In the United States, the number of hate crimes against Jews has increased in the past year. In 2023, the number of reported anti-Semitic hate crimes in the country's 20 largest cities increased by 48 percent, compared to the year before.
As recently as yesterday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul said that "several bomb threats" have been directed at synagogues in New York state. After an extensive investigation, it was determined that the threats were not credible, writes Haaretz.

Donald Trump: Strike Iran's nuclear program
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump thinks Israel should strike Iran's nuclear energy facilities. The ex-president stated this at an election meeting in North Carolina on Friday, several media reports.
This is in reference to the fact that Joe Biden was asked on a previous occasion whether Israel should attack Iran, to which the president answered yes - as long as you don't hit the nuclear power.
- When they asked that question to Biden, he should have answered that: "yes, strike against it first, other things can wait", said Trump.
