A total of nine people have been confirmed dead in the plane crash in Louisville, USA. It is also clear that one of the cargo plane's engines fell off and one wing caught fire at the time of the accident.
Late on Wednesday, it was confirmed that two more people had died in the accident that occurred when the plane belonging to the package distribution company UPS crashed late Tuesday evening Swedish time.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, however, is warning that the death toll could rise further, citing 16 families gathering at a gathering point for people searching for information about missing relatives on Wednesday, AP reports.
The condition of the three crew members on board or whether they are among the nine confirmed dead is unclear.
As for the sequence of events, investigators have determined that one of the aircraft's engines blew off during takeoff while the left wing caught fire.
- There are many different parts of this aircraft scattered in several different locations, says Todd Inman of the US National Transportation Safety Board, which is leading the investigation.
