Ten million people could be affected by flooding in the United States this weekend.
The National Hurricane Center warns of that.
"We are preparing to open shelters," says the Red Cross.
A tropical storm warning has been issued from Port Mansfield, Texas in the United States to Boca de Chatan in Mexico, according to the National Hurricane Center, CNN reports.
The region's desert landscape has long been affected by extreme drought. Now the heavy rainfall will instead "very likely" cause flooding in the region of the United States this weekend and the American Red Cross is preparing to intervene and open shelters if necessary, the organization writes on its website.(organisationen på sin hemsida.)
"The biggest concern initially is the flooding," Jeff Davis, a meteorologist for the National Weather Center in Tucson, told CNN.

Close to 10 million people have been advised to be "prepared for flooding" in the Four Corners region of the southwestern United States, including Tuscon, Phoenix, Albuquerque and El Paso this weekend.
Such an advisory is issued by the National Weather Center(nationella vädercentret) when it is considered likely that a hazardous weather event may occur - and in this case, conditions are favorable for flooding. However, this does not mean that flooding will occur, but that it is possible.

The rain will move east over the weekend into the southern Plains and Texas - where it will combine with a disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico, increasing the risk of more flooding.
Several regions of the country could see 15 centimeters of rain or more, but the most vulnerable areas to potential flooding are Arizona and New Mexico, where flood warnings have already been issued.
"It will rain significantly in the southwestern United States this weekend. Heavy precipitation is likely across portions of southeastern Arizona all the way to southwestern New Mexico,” the weather center warns.
