White House: China has had spy base in Cuba for years
China has had a spy base in Cuba since at least 2019. That's what the White House says, regarding the Wall Street Journal's information that China and Cuba have agreed to build a listening station on the island, the newspaper writes.
The White House has previously stated that the WSJ's information is incorrect. According to the new statement, it is said that China is likely to strengthen its presence in Cuba, while the United States will work to prevent this.
"We assess that China is not where they had hoped to be," the statement continues.

Antony Blinken is said to be traveling to China next week
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken may travel to China as early as next week, two sources told Politico. If
the trip goes through, Blinken will be the highest-ranking American to
visit the country since Representative Mike Pompeo's 2018 trip.
The
Chinese embassy in Washington does not want to confirm the information,
but says that China is "open to dialogue" with the United States.
Blinken
was supposed to visit China in February but the trip was canceled at
the last minute after a Chinese spy balloon was spotted over the US. The incident led to the relationship between the countries almost breaking down completely.

Donald Trump on the indictment: "Ridiculous - baseless"
Donald Trump condemned the new indictment against him when he spoke to supporters in Georgia on Sunday, AP writes.
Trump called the whole thing a "witch hunt" and said the allegations were ridiculous and baseless.
- This will go down in history as the worst abuse of power in our country's history, said the former president.
On Saturday, it became known that Trump is charged with 37 counts since he kept highly secret and sensitive documents about the defense and security of the United States in his residence.
According to the indictment, Trump has, among other things, shown documents to unauthorized persons, while at the same time trying to hide them from the FBI.

United Spanish left gives Sanchez hope to stay
Spain's
left-wing party Podemos has agreed to form a common front with the
motley left-wing alliance Sumar ahead of the new elections in July,
several media write. The
aim is to gather the left in order to better challenge the conservative
Partido Popular, which currently has an advantage in the opinion polls.
Podemos has served as a coalition partner to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's social democratic PSOE during the past term. Sanchez announced surprising new elections since the right has made strong progress in the local elections recently this year.
