Powerful Haitian gang leader Jimmy "Barbecue" Cherizier has urged residents of the country to keep their children at home as he plans to topple Prime Minister Ariel Henry, Reuters reports.
- The battles will last as long as they are needed. We will continue to fight against Henry, says Barbecue at a press conference.
The anger towards Henry has grown big recently when he did not leave his post and call new elections as he promised. The violence has escalated further in recent days when Henry was on a state visit to Kenya.

Kenya pledges to send 1,000 police to Haiti
About 1,000 Kenyan police officers are expected to be sent to Haiti shortly to help the country curb escalating gang crime, the BBC reports.
Last year, Kenya assumed the leadership of a UN mission to help the Caribbean country where more than 5,000 people fell victim to gang violence last year.
Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry visited Kenya on Friday for a meeting with President William Ruto where the two leaders agreed to launch the plan. This despite Kenya's Supreme Court announcing that the plan is unconstitutional.
The African country of Benin has also offered to send 2,000 soldiers and the Caribbean countries of the Bahamas, Jamaica and Antigua and Barbuda have offered help.
