The hunt for the RAF terrorists
Sources: The terrorist lived in a searched caravan park

German police carried out a major search operation in a run-down trailer park in eastern Berlin on Sunday. The explanation is that the far-left 55-year-old terrorist Burkhard Garweg has previously lived there, say sources to both Der Spiegel and Bild.

According to the first-mentioned newspaper, the police are sure of the matter. No Garweg was seen, but the police also searched for DNA traces and other things that could prove that he was at the scene.

Police are also looking for Ernst-Volker Staub, 69. Both belonged to the notorious Red Army Faction (RAF) - also known as the Baader-Meinhofligan - which terrorized West Germany with murders and bombings in the 1970s and 1980s. Subsequently, the two men are suspected of having carried out a long series of cash-in-transit robberies.

The search has intensified since 66-year-old RAF mate Daniela Klette was arrested on Monday after more than 30 years on the run. All three belong to Europol's most wanted criminals.

Political situation in Israel

Security minister is nobbed from meetings after leak

The Israeli Security Council has decided to stop sending representatives to weekly meetings with the country's Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, reports Haaretz.

The background is that a number of sensitive documents are said to have been leaked, and that the minister and his employees used mobile phones during the intelligence meetings. One of them is also said to have taken pictures of security-classified participants, which could be a violation of the law. Since before, managers within the Israeli security service Shin Bet refuse to participate in the meetings with Ben-Gvir.

At the same time, there is conflicting information that it is actually Ben-Gvir who banned representatives from the Security Council from participating in future meetings, writes the Jerusalem Post.

The election in Pakistan
The Prime Minister was voted for critical slogans

The appointment was met with loud protests from the SIC party, which has the support of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan. The politicians shouted slogans such as "vote stealer" and "shame on you" and accused Sharif of rigging the election. SIC claims to have evidence of electoral fraud, which the electoral authority denies.

Sharif, 72, was prime minister until a transitional government took over in August 2023. He now faces a series of challenges, including managing the economy, power supply, law enforcement and relations with neighboring countries.

The unrest in Haiti
Prison overrun in Haiti - nearly 4,000 prisoners freed

Armed gang members have stormed the largest prison in Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, and nearly all 4,000 inmates have been freed, the BBC reports.

Among the inmates at the prison are gang members who are suspected of involvement in the assassination of the country's former president, Jovenel Moïse.

Recently, gang violence in Haiti has escalated and notorious gang leader Jimmy "Barbecue" Chérizier this week declared war on incumbent Prime Minister Ariel Henry and vowed to overthrow him.

Dissatisfaction with Henry has increased since he refused to call new elections. He temporarily gained power in the country after the murder of Jovenel Moïse in 2021.
