Ship attack

Fighter plane falls overboard – second time in a week

A US fighter plane fell overboard from the aircraft carrier Harry S Truman in the Red Sea on Tuesday.

The incident occurred during landing. The two pilots ejected and escaped with minor injuries.

It is the second time in a week that a plane has fallen off the ship. Last week, a fighter plane fell while being towed when the vehicle towing it lost control.

In December, a US plane was shot down over the Red Sea by the US aircraft carrier USS Gettysburg after a communication error. Two months later, the Harry S Truman was involved in a collision, which led to the commander being fired, writes the Washington Post.

Fighter plane has crashed in Finland – the pilot ejected

A fighter plane has crashed near the airport in Rovaniemi, Finland, just before 11 on Wednesday, reports Yle. It is an F/A-18 Hornet.

“The pilot has escaped with an ejection seat,” the Finnish Air Force said on X.

Images from the scene show heavy smoke. It is unclear how the pilot, who has been taken to hospital, is doing.

Iltalehti newspaper writes, citing an eyewitness, that the plane appears to have been flying at too low an altitude.
