The new US security strategy

AFD welcomes Trump's new security strategy

The German far-right AfD party welcomes the new national security strategy presented by the US, which singles out Europe as a continent in decline.

The party's foreign policy spokesman Markus Frohnmaier says the AfD is fighting for "a conservative renaissance in North America and Europe," AFP writes.

Trump's new strategy praises, among other things, "the growing influence of patriotic European parties." The AfD has spoken highly of Trump's "Make America Great Again" movement.

AfD leader Tino Chrupalla attended Trump's inauguration in January, and several of the US president's allies have clearly expressed support for the German far-right party.

Jordan Bardella "shares for the most part" the US concerns

French far-right leader Jordan Bardella "shares for the most part" the US concerns about Europe's development. He says this in the BBC's podcast "Political thinking" on the occasion of Donald Trump's new national security strategy, where Europe is singled out as a continent in decline.

At the same time, Bardella emphasizes that Europe should not be subordinate to any great power.

Bardella, who is the party leader of the National Rally, is leading in opinion polls ahead of the 2027 presidential election. In the interview, Bardella says that the first thing he would do if he wins the election is to hold a referendum on immigration.

The BBC notes that a referendum on immigration requires a constitutional amendment, which in turn means that the National Rally must secure a majority in the National Assembly or acquire enough allies.
