Thai dictator Prayut Chan-ocha is planning to recommend a book for Thais to read each week. His first two choices were books he clearly didn’t read or understand — George Orwell’s anti-dictatorship satire Animal Farm, and Aesop’s Fables. http://www.khaosodenglish.com/politics/2019/05/30/prayuth-animal-farm-endorsement-leaves-netizens-snorting/ … 1/2
Thailand’s Association of Book Publishers and Distributors has received a
letter from the Department of Cultural Promotion asking them to suggest
more books for Prayut to recommend.
They have been told that books that include political satire are not
allowed. 2/2
