Elizabeth II As Harry and Meghan got out of their car, the crowd applauded outside the church.
At the same time, scattered cries were heard in the audience.
It was the first time the couple participated in a royal event since they left the royal family last year.
- Harry and Meghan create a lot of emotions and the British are divided, says court expert Sara Ericsson.
Queen Elizabeth was too tired and weak to attend the grand festive service yesterday. Prince Charles and his son Prince William were allowed to represent the Queen instead.
But the ones who got the most attention were probably Harry and Meghan who were back in London after a year of scandals and headlines behind them.
The relationship with the rest of the family is frosty after Meghan accused the royal family of being racist and the court too emotional in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

According to sources in the British press, the court has felt great concern that Harry and Meghan will take focus from the queen's throne anniversary. Therefore, it was decided that the couple would not be allowed to stand with the Queen on the balcony of Buckingham Palace and wave to the people during the military parade Trooping the color.
Nor did Prince Andrew, who was recently accused of rape in a US lawsuit.
- Harry and Meghan take a lot of focus and of course you want to avoid it. But it is impossible, says Sara Ericsson and believes that whatever the couple does, they get attention.

Meghan smiled big at the crowd and stepped elegantly through the church gates hand in hand with Harry. She was wearing a cream Dior coat and an elegant hat.
In the middle of the altar passage, the couple let go of each other and walked on either side of a large lattice in the floor. The risk of getting stuck with the heels is great. Several other female guests did the same.
Described as downgrade
Harry and Meghan's placement in the church is described as a downgrade in several British newspapers.
Prince Charles and Camilla as well as Prince William and Kate sat in the front row on the left. Harry and Meghan, who are no longer working royals, were placed in the second row on the right. They sat next to Prince Andrew's daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
But despite the minimized royal status, the queen is keen for Harry and Meghan to feel at home and welcome in London. According to the Daily Mail, she will watch the exciting horse races at the Epsom Derby with Harry and Meghan on TV tonight.
In addition, she celebrates her great-granddaughter Lilibeth who turns one today. This is the first time she meets Liliebeth who has been given the queen's nickname.
