Several children stabbed on playground in France  

 

Several children have been stabbed in a playground in the French city of Annecy, reports Le Dauphine. It is about six children and an adult who were attacked, sources told AFP.  

 

The suspected perpetrator must have been arrested. The man, who was armed with a knife, is said to have attacked a group of three-year-old children at a playground in the city at around 09.45, according to the sources.  

 

"He was arrested thanks to the rapid intervention of the security forces," writes Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin on Twitter.

The police's efforts are praised - politicians hold a minute's silence  

 

French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne is traveling to the French city of Annecy after the knife attack against a group of preschool children on a playground in the city, writes AFP.  

 

Eight children aged three and one adult were injured when an armed man attacked the playground. 

 

"The individual was arrested thanks to the rapid intervention of the security forces," writes Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin on Twitter. 

 

French local politician Antoine Armand calls it a heinous attack and sends his support to the victims.  

 

In addition, the politicians in the country's national assembly have held a minute's silence for the victims.
