Witnesses to the attack in Uganda: Gospel became screams
About 40 people died in Friday's attack on a school in Uganda. Student Mary Masika told the BBC that those living at the school had gathered to sing gospel songs when the rebels arrived.
- Then we heard the screams. I haven't been able to sleep or eat since then, she says.
The IS-affiliated rebel group ADF is suspected of having attacked the school late in the evening. They entered the school's dormitories and hacked people down with machetes and set fire to buildings.
The Mpondwe family on Sunday buried a father and his son, who were killed in the attack. Another 15-year-old boy in the family is missing. The family does not know if he is one of the six people who were kidnapped or if he is one of those who are so badly injured that they cannot be identified.
