The US-China relationship
Analysis: First step towards unraveling strained relationship
The first day of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's two-day visit to China is over but no major breakthroughs have been achieved. That's what AP's Seung Min Kim and Huizhong Wu write in an analyzing text.
They note that the list of conflicts is long and includes everything from Taiwan's sovereignty to industrial espionage and the war in Ukraine.
"The US and China have not managed to solve any problems, but they have at least had potentially constructive talks about the conflicts," they write.
TV4 Nyhetern's USA correspondent Tomas Kvarnkullen says that we cannot expect any major breakthroughs during the meeting either. The meeting should instead be seen as a first step towards an improved relationship.
- Today's announcement that it looks like there will be a Chinese state visit to the United States in the future is seen as a positive signal in the United States and as a first step on the way, he says.

Blinken invites Qin to the United States after meeting in Beijing
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says he has had "sincere, meaningful and constructive" talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang in Beijing, AFP reports.
Furthermore, Blinken invites his Chinese counterpart to a meeting in Washington DC and according to a statement from the US State Department, Qin has accepted the invitation.
It is the first time in five years that a US Secretary of State has visited China. The meeting is seen as an important first step towards a better relationship between the countries. During the meeting, Blinken must have underlined the importance of continued communication.
"China is keen to build a stable, predictable, constructive relationship with the United States," Qin Gang said in a statement.
