Two detained in Germany for terrorist plans against the Riksdag
The two men who are suspected of having planned a terrorist act against the Riksdag have been detained in Germany, announced the public prosecutor's office in Karlsruhe in Germany.
It was on Tuesday morning that the German police task force attacked the men in the city of Gera. According to the prosecutor's arrest warrant, they have mapped the area around the parliament building, and also tried to get access to firearms but without success. The assassination plans are said to have been motivated by the Koran burnings in Sweden.
Fredrik Hultgren-Friberg, press secretary at Säpo, does not want to comment on the arrest but tells TT that the authority fully understands that "the current situation creates concern".
"It is important to remember that the intention of those who spread hatred and threats is precisely to create fear and insecurity."

"The arrested men belong to the most dangerous Islamist group"
The two men who were arrested on suspicion of having planned a murder at Sweden's Riksdag belong to the terrorist group Islamic State in Khorasan, ISKP.
ISKP is a branch of IS that was formed in 2014 by defectors from, among others, al-Qaeda, writes SvD's Tomas Lundin. The German security service describes the group as the most dangerous of all Islamist groups.
"It is one of the few terrorist groups that is able to organize everything from improvised, spontaneous attacks to complex terrorist acts with explosives or firearms and a larger number of people involved," writes Lundin.
In the investigation, German police have, among other things, come across material where the suspects mapped the area around the Riksdag building in Stockholm. German prosecutors do not want to reveal how they found out about the men's plans, says SR's Germany correspondent Daniel Alling.
- There has been a collaboration with Säpo in Sweden, but you don't want to go into how it turned out, he says in Studio Ett.
