Army Chief: China's Aggressiveness - Making the Region More Dangerous
The new head of the US Pacific Army, General Ronald Clark, is concerned that China's "aggressive behavior" has made the region more dangerous. He says this in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

Cooperation with US allies in the region has therefore become more important. But China's actions are also bringing them and the US closer together, says Ronald Clark.

Joe Biden's Team Says No to Cognitive Test
Early in 2024, former President Joe Biden's advisers considered conducting a cognitive test on him - but decided not to do so. The New York Times reports, citing an as-yet-unpublished book.
While the advisers were confident that Biden would pass the test, they were afraid of how voters viewed the president's age and mental capacity. The fact that he would even undergo such a test was feared to raise questions.

Suspected terror plots in England - five arrested
Five people have been arrested in several locations in the United Kingdom on suspicion of having planned a terrorist act. The BBC reports.
Four Iranian men, aged 29, 40 and 46, were arrested in Swindon, London, Stockport and Manchester. The fifth man's age and nationality are still being investigated, the Metropolitan Police said.
The case is being led by the police's counter-terrorism unit, which is now investigating possible motives and whether there is a continuing risk to the public. The terrorists' targets have not been made public, but those targeted have been informed, the BBC reports.

Sources: Hegseth to meet Netanyahu in Israel
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth will travel to Israel ahead of Donald Trump's planned trip to the Middle East, sources have told Axios.
Hegseth will meet his Israeli counterpart, Israel Katz, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. After that, Hegseth will travel to Saudi Arabia to meet Donald Trump. However, the US president will not travel to Israel.
Hegseth's trip to Israel comes at a time when the country is concerned that the new US administration no longer seems to be as interested in military involvement in the Middle East, writes Axios.

Activists agree to Malta repairing the ship
Malta is offering help to repair the ship Conscience, reports AFP. The ship was attacked by drones on Friday night.
If possible, the ship will be repaired at sea, and otherwise towed to Malta for repairs, at the country's expense. This is what Prime Minister Robert Abela told reporters on Sunday.
The activists agree, on one condition:
- Only they guarantee that Conscience will not be stopped when the ship wants to continue on its humanitarian mission to take emergency aid to Gaza, says volunteer Thiago Avila in a video-broadcast press conference.
The Prime Minister says that the ship will be allowed to continue after Maltese authorities check that it only contains necessities, according to Reuters.
