US intelligence: Trump is probably wrong about the gang
US intelligence contradicts Donald Trump's claims that the Venezuelan government controls the Tren de Aragua cartel, NBC News reports, citing a previously classified document.
According to the document, which is dated April 7, US intelligence indicates that the "permissive environment" in Venezuela does allow the cartel to operate, but that there is likely no cooperation between President Nicolás Maduro and the cartel.
In March, Donald Trump claimed that Tren de Aragua is an invading force acting on behalf of Venezuela. He invoked a 1798 martial law, which was used to deport over 200 alleged cartel members to El Salvador.
US wants to deport migrants to Ukraine - in the middle of the war
Donald Trump's administration wants to deport people to Ukraine, documents obtained by the Washington Post show.
The US request to Ukraine reportedly included people who are neither US nor Ukrainian citizens and was sent earlier this year, in the midst of Russia’s war of invasion. The documents do not indicate Kyiv’s response to the request, but Ukrainian sources say it has not reached the highest political level.
The newspaper links the request to Ukraine’s dependence on US support.
