Greenland Crisis US Threat

Warning: Trump's desire to take Greenland is intact

Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen states that the country is now in a completely different foreign policy situation than it was at the beginning of the year.

- The US president's desire to take over Greenland is intact. That is why the situation is serious, and it has been all along, she tells Danish Radio.

After the US attacked Venezuela in January, the assessment was that Denmark risked being next. Danish soldiers were sent to Greenland and it was communicated externally as a military exercise. They are said to have had explosives with them to destroy runways in Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq. The cargo is also said to have contained blood bags that were to be used for wounded soldiers, according to information to Danish Radio.

Danish War Expert: Oh my God – must seek new allies

Denmark must seek new allies to protect its security. This is what Sten Rynning, professor of war science at the University of Southern Denmark, tells Danmarks Radio regarding reports that Denmark was preparing for an American attack on Greenland in January.

Rynning reacts to the reports with dismay:

– Oh my God. It shows that the framework for allied cooperation has broken down.

DR's sources consist of several people in the Danish government, top officers and intelligence sources in Denmark, France and Germany. The site writes that the new revelation provides an insight into how serious the situation actually was in connection with Donald Trump's threat to take over Greenland by force.

The Danish preparations were reportedly communicated as a military exercise, but in reality they were preparing to blow up runways and were carrying blood bags that could be used for wounded soldiers.

Sources: Denmark prepared for attack from the US

Denmark prepared for an attack from the US, according to several sources to Danmarks Radio.

In January, Denmark sent soldiers to Greenland, outwardly it was communicated as a military exercise. But they were said to have had explosives with them to destroy runways in Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq. The cargo also reportedly contained blood bags, which were to be used for wounded soldiers.

The decision was made after Donald Trump attacked Venezuela, when many expected Greenland to be next in line.

– We had to take all scenarios seriously, one of the sources tells the channel.

Shortly afterwards they were joined by France, Norway, Germany and Sweden. The exercise, which was called “Arctic Endurance”, was actually intended to deter the US, according to the sources.
