Trump: NATO is Cowardly – a Paper Tiger without the US
Donald Trump takes another swipe at his NATO allies in a post on Truth Social. Without the US, the military alliance is a paper tiger, he writes.
Once again, Trump claims that the war is won, only to scold NATO countries in the next breath for not sending military aid.
“They complain about the high oil prices they are forced to pay, but they do not want to help open the Strait of Hormuz, a simple military maneuver that is the only reason for oil prices,” the president writes and concludes:
Sources: The rift between the US and Israel is widening“Cowardly, and we will remember!”
Outwardly, they radiate agreement, but behind the scenes, the rift between the US and Israel is growing regarding the end goal of the Iran war, sources with insight tell the Washington Post.
Donald Trump firmly denies that the US is following Israel’s lead. However, the message has been undermined by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said that Israel took the first initiative – a statement he quickly backed away from – and counterterrorism chief Joe Kent, who wrote in his resignation letter that the US was dragged into the war by “Israel and its powerful lobby in the US”.
Trump is said to be amazed at how the US military has decimated the Iranian regime, but is appalled by the economic consequences. At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu – who Trump has given more military freedom of movement than any previous US president, according to the sources – continues to relentlessly bomb Iranian gas fields and oil facilities, among other things.
– (Netanyahu) wants to crush Iran’s economy and energy infrastructure. Trump wants it to remain intact, says a source.
Sources: US has detailed plans for a ground operation
The Pentagon has developed detailed plans to deploy ground forces in Iran, sources tell CBS News.
Among other things, discussions have been held about what to do with captured Iranian soldiers and paramilitary militiamen and where they should be sent, according to the sources.
Trump made his statement on the issue of ground forces last Thursday:
– No, I will not send troops anywhere. If so, I definitely would not tell you.
His press secretary Karoline Leavitt adds that the Pentagon's job is to prepare options for Trump, and that this does not mean that any decision has been made.
