Pope: “The world is plagued by tyrants”

         Påve Leo XIV i Kamerun.

The feud between Donald Trump and Pope Leo XIV continues.

In a new speech, the pope attacks world leaders who “manipulate religion and the name of God for military gain”.

– The world is plagued by a handful of tyrants, he says.

The statement came during a speech in Cameroon on Thursday.

Pope Leo never mentioned Donald Trump by name, but the message was clear.

– Shame on those who manipulate religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic and political gain, and drag what is holy down into darkness and filth, says Leo.

He continued by saying that “the world is plagued by a handful of tyrants.”

Leo is the first American-born head of the Catholic Church and has been very critical of armed conflicts around the world, including the war in Iran.

Something that did not go down well with Donald Trump.

“Don’t want a Pope”

The American president published AI-generated images of himself on social media shortly afterwards in which he depicted Jesus. After a storm of criticism, he deleted the images.

He himself has denied that the images were of a religious nature.

– I published it, and I thought it was me as a doctor, and that it had to do with the –Red Cross, as a Red Cross worker, which we support, said Trump.

The president has also previously stated that he is “not a fan of Pope Leo.”

"I don't want a Pope who thinks it's okay for Iran to have a nuclear weapon," he wrote on Truth social.
