Middle East crisis Peace talks

Iran Leaves Peace Talks in Protest of Trump's Threats

The Iranian delegation that is in Switzerland to discuss the peace agreement with the United States has reportedly left the talks, Reuters reports, citing Iranian state media.

The delegation is said to have left in protest of Donald Trump's new threat of powerful attacks on Iran unless Hezbollah stops attacking Israel.

"Iran must immediately stop its well-paid proxy groups in Lebanon from causing problems," the US president wrote on Truth Social during the afternoon.

The fighting between Israel and the Iranian-backed terrorist movement Hezbollah has continued despite several ceasefire agreements. Iran has repeatedly stressed that the attacks on Lebanon must end for the peace agreement to be feasible.

According to information provided to Reuters, the talks have only been paused and not canceled.

Iran hits back after Trump's threat: "Armed forces ready to act"

Iranian Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf hits back at Donald Trump's threat of new attacks and says the country is ready to respond. On X he writes that the US "should be careful with its statements" and that "the armed forces are ready to respond".

Ghalibaf's statement comes after the US president threatened strong attacks if Iran-backed Hezbollah does not stop its attacks.

The US and Iran are currently in Switzerland for talks on a peace agreement, but the meetings have taken a serious turn due to Sunday night's exchange of words.

Graham: Believes Iran deal will fail

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham does not believe that the US will succeed in rowing a deal with Iran to port, reports The Hill.

“If there is no diplomatic way forward through the memorandum of understanding, you have to go to war or resort to some other form of pressure,” Graham said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“Let’s try this. Let’s try to find a diplomatic solution. I think it will fail.”

If the negotiations break down, Graham suggests that Donald Trump could take military control of the Strait of Hormuz and charge ships that pass through the strategically important waterway.

Trump wrote on Truth Social on Saturday that such a scenario could become a reality
