Midterm elections in the USA

Senator: Trump will face a new reality if Democrats take majority

If Democrats win a majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the fall's midterm elections, Donald Trump will have to deal with a completely new Washington. That's what Senator Brian Schatz tells CNN.

Schatz, who is being pointed out by many as the Democrats' next party whip if the party regains the majority, believes that the party would have the opportunity to put significantly more pressure on the Trump administration.

He also points to several issues where he believes Democrats can win over Republican voters, including healthcare, tariffs and foreign policy.

- The reason the public is not behind this war is that they never made any attempt to convince Americans why it was needed, he says.

White House sees Kennedy as key to election success

US Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy has become the poster boy for the Trump administration in many ways ahead of the midterm elections in November, reports The Hill.

Kennedy has visited several key swing states in recent weeks to promote his “Make America Healthy Again” agenda. According to The Hill, it is a sign that he is far from being sidelined and is seen as an important asset in the Republicans’ attempt to retain control of Congress.

– The White House is anxious ahead of the midterm elections and when they look around at who they have on their team, Kennedy is still the most popular person, says Jeff Hutt, former national campaign manager for Kennedy’s presidential campaign, to The Hill.
