Israeli Minister: No One Knows What's Damaged Yet
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich is questioning media reports that the US attacks did not cause significant damage to Iran's nuclear facilities, CNN reports.
- No one knows what has been damaged, it will take some time, Smotrich said when interviewed on Israeli radio.
Military spokeswoman Effie Defrin also says that it is too early to assess the exact extent of the damage, but that the attack means that Iran's ability to develop nuclear weapons has been delayed by several years, AFP reports.
According to leaked information from US intelligence, it is more likely a matter of a few months.
Trump compares Iran attack to the atomic bombings in Japan
Donald Trump compares the US attacks on Iran to the use of atomic bombs during World War II, The Independent writes.
– I don't want to use Hiroshima as an example, I don't want to use Nagasaki as an example, but it was basically the same thing – it ended a war, he says at the NATO summit in The Hague.
According to the Financial Times, it is not possible to determine the extent of the damage after the attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, which Trump describes as "annihilating".
Trump: Can bomb Iran again – if they recover
Donald Trump says the US would bomb Iran again if they manage to rebuild their nuclear program, Reuters reports.
– The last thing they want to do is enrich something right now. They want to recover, and we are not going to let that happen, Trump said during the NATO summit in The Hague, according to The Independent.
Since the attack, the president has stated that Iran's ability to enrich uranium has been completely eliminated. However, on Tuesday, intelligence information came from the US indicating that the nuclear facilities in Iran have been damaged much less severely than that.
Iran's nuclear facilities were severely damaged after the US attacks, a spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said according to AP.
The statement comes after US media published leaked intelligence information that the damage after the attack was not as extensive as the White House claimed. However, US President Donald Trump insists that Iran's nuclear energy program was essentially completely destroyed.
There is no independent information yet on the extent of the damage.
