Ceasefire confirmed after outbreaks and attacks

Finally, Iran and Israel have confirmed Trump's ceasefire.

That was after both countries first violated it – and received a reprimand.

Now the future hangs in the balance.

Late on Monday night, Donald Trump claimed that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire.

During the morning, both countries confirmed the agreement.

But on Tuesday, the attacks continued anyway.

On Tuesday night, barely a day after Trump's announcement, both countries finally confirmed a ceasefire.

Shortly before 8 p.m., Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that Iran would no longer attack Israel, AFP reported.

Earlier in the evening, the IDF also commented on the ceasefire.

“The focus is now shifting back to Gaza,” said IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir.

But this morning this outcome was not obvious.

Outbreak outside the White House put pressure

The announcement comes after US President Donald Trump was furious about how the countries behaved after he announced the start of the ceasefire at 6 a.m. this morning.

Both Israel and Iran broke the agreement. In Israel, four people died in the city of Beersheba after an Iranian attack. Israel, for its part, carried out an attack on radar technology near Tehran.

This caused Trump to roar –  bothde in front of reporters outside the Whitea House and on his channel Truth Social.

– I am unhappy with Iran, but very unhappy with Israel, he said outside the White House on Tuesday morning.

Trump then appealed to Israel not to respond to Iran's attack on Beersheba.

"ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THE BOMBS. IF YOU DO, IT IS A GRAVE VIOLATION. TAKE YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!", he wrote on his channel.

Still unstable

But the ceasefire will only hold as long as the other side behaves. This is what both Israel and Iran mean.

Israel's Defense Minister, Israel Katz, announced after a conversation with US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, that Israel will respect the ceasefire with Iran "as long as the other side does the same".

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday evening that Iran will not return to the negotiating table with the US - as long as the "aggression" against his country continues, CNN reports.

He says that the war, which lasted twelve days, was forced on Iran by Israel's "adventurism".
