Taliban rule Pakistan-Afghanistan relations
Fighting on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan
Fighting between Afghan and Pakistani forces has flared up along the border, AFP reports. Several airstrikes have also been directed at targets in Afghanistan, including at the former US Bagram airbase north of Kabul.
The conflict between the two countries escalated last week after months of attacks from both sides. Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif then declared "open war".
Pakistan claims to have bombed 46 locations in Afghanistan and killed over 400 Afghan soldiers. The Taliban government claims that over 80 Pakistani soldiers have been killed and 27 military posts have been taken, but the data is difficult to verify independently.

The EU needs to convince the US that Ukraine is winning the war against Russia. This is what Finnish President Alexander Stubb says in SVT's Agenda. He says that the narrative in the US, that Ukraine is about to lose, is not true.
According to Stubb, the war is both a strategic and military failure for Vladimir Putin. In addition, the Russian economy is under severe pressure.
– Putin will not win the war. But he will not drive with peace either. That is our dilemma, says Stubb.
