A plane has collided with a ground vehicle during landing at LaGuardia Airport in New York. At least two people have died, reports NBC News.

Eyewitness images circulating online show the plane's nose and cockpit practically completely destroyed. There are unconfirmed reports of two dead and two injured. According to NBC News sources, both pilots of the plane were killed and two in the ground vehicle were injured.

The plane belongs to Air Canada and came from Montreal, Canada. After landing late Sunday evening local time, it crashed into a larger vehicle, a fire and rescue truck, which according to American media was on its way to a separate incident when it collided with the aircraft for some reason.

72 passengers plus four crew members were on board, according to Jazz Aviation, which flew the plane on behalf of Air Canada.

All air traffic to and from LaGuardia has been stopped, the US aviation authority FAA announced. The airport – located in Queens, east of Manhattan – will remain closed until at least 8 p.m. Swedish time.
