Japan frustrated with the British – budget dispute delays new fighter plane
Japan, Britain and Italy have agreed to build a new fighter plane – of the sixth generation – together within the framework of the GCAP project. But the work has already been delayed by a British budget dispute and now patience is starting to wear thin on the Japanese side, reports the Financial Times.
– Frankly, it is a terrible situation, says a source.
In addition to the financing problems, there is reportedly no consensus on the project's goals. For Japan, the ambition is to produce a new fighter plane by the mid-30s. Britain and Italy are reportedly not in such a hurry.
The overall aim of GCAP is for the three countries to reduce their dependence on the United States and the F-35 fighter plane, which they all use today.
Resigning LKAB CEO: “Politicians stand in the way of the transition”

– It is not the industry that has problems with transition, it is the state that does not control its authorities, says Moström.
