UN soldiers seriously injured in southern Lebanon
Three UN soldiers have been seriously injured in an explosion in southern Lebanon, a spokesperson for the UN peacekeeping force UNIFIL announced in a post on X.
According to spokesperson Kandice Ardiel, two of the soldiers are seriously injured, and all three have been taken to hospital.
“UNIFIL reminds all actors of their obligations to ensure the safety of the peacekeepers,” she wrote in the post.
The cause of the explosion is unknown, according to Ardiel. UN forces are stationed in southern Lebanon near the border with Israel, where Israel is carrying out a ground invasion and extensive air strikes.
IDF: New waves of attacks begin against Beirut and Tehran
The Israeli military IDF announces new waves of attacks against the southern suburbs of Beirut. This is reported by AFP.
The new attacks come hours after the IDF issued an evacuation warning for the area. The military says it is targeting “terrorist infrastructure.”
An AFP correspondent heard explosions, and Lebanese state television reported that attacks had hit the area. Hezbollah has been present in the area, but a large number of residents have fled since the Israeli airstrikes began.
The IDF also said it was launching a “large-scale” wave of airstrikes on the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The targets of the attacks are infrastructure belonging to the Iranian regime, according to the military.
