A 5.8 magnitude earthquake hit northern Afghanistan and western Pakistan on Good Friday.
According to initial reports from the Kabul governor, at least eight people have died. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the city of Kunduz, according to both European and American geological institutes.
The quake, which was measured at a depth of 180 kilometers, was felt across large parts of both countries and Afghan health ministries were put on alert.
The region is often prone to severe earthquakes with death tolls in the thousands.
In August, about 2,200 people died in a 6.0 magnitude quake.
