Situation in the Strait of Hormuz

Revolutionary Guard: Has “full control” over Hormuz

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard writes in a post on X that Iranian security forces have “full control” over the Strait of Hormuz. This is reported by AFP.

“The enemy will be caught in a deadly vortex in the strait if it makes a wrong move,” writes the Revolutionary Guard.

The comment comes after Donald Trump claimed that the US Navy has initiated a blockade where they stop all shipping in or out of the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran: Ships approaching the strait violate the ceasefire

Military ships approaching the Strait of Hormuz will be seen as a violation of the ceasefire, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says according to Reuters.

Such ships will be dealt with “harshly and firmly,” according to a statement on Iranian state television.

According to the Revolutionary Guard, Iran's navy has full control over the strait, but it adds that it is open to non-military vessels "according to specific rules".

Trump: Will impose a blockade of Hormuz - wants to stop all ships that have paid the toll

The US navy will block all ships trying to enter or exit the Strait of Hormuz, writes Donald Trump on Truth Social.

"Any Iranian who fires at us, or at peaceful ships, will be blown to hell", Trump further writes.

Trump also says that he has instructed the US navy to seek out and stop all ships in international waters that have paid Iran's toll.

"No one who pays an illegal fee will have free passage on the high seas".

He also claims that the blockade will begin shortly, and that other countries will be involved.

“Iran will not be allowed to profit from this illegal blackmail.”
