Trump "disagrees" - believes the mirror was vandalized

US President Donald Trump "disagrees" with his Justice Department's assessment that the damage to the water mirror at the Lincoln Memorial was caused by a failed renovation. He writes this in a post on Truth Social.

"There may have been some difficulties with the contractor, but the major damage was caused by vandals!"

Late Friday evening Swedish time, federal prosecutor Jeanine Pirro announced that the charges against former Olympic canoeist David Hearn are being dropped. He was previously suspected of having vandalized the water mirror, and risked ten years in prison. Pirro then stated that the damage to the water mirror was caused by a "hasty and failed" installation.

The admission: The water surface was damaged by the contractor

The US Department of Justice is dropping the charges against former Olympic canoeist David Hearn, who was accused of vandalizing the water surface at the Lincoln Memorial. Reuters reports.

In a written document, the department writes that the damage to the pool's seal was caused by "defective installation".

- The Trump administration's dropping the charges today does not erase the abuse of power in arresting and prosecuting a patriotic American who did nothing wrong, Hearn's lawyer said in a statement according to CNN.

Donald Trump spent the equivalent of 140 million kronor on renovating the water surface in a direct procurement. After that, the pool filled with algae and the bottom paint peeled off. Trump and US police claimed that vandals had cut the new pool liner with a razor blade.
