Three people were killed in a suspected bomb attack on a restaurant in central Moscow on Saturday, Russian state news agency Tass reported.

Another 21 people were injured.

A woman is said to have tried to enter the premises with an explosive device, the country's national anti-terrorist agency said, according to Tass. The bomb was detonated when a security guard tried to stop her.

The woman, the guard and a guest were killed, according to the agency, which describes the bomb as "homemade".

The restaurant is located on Kudrinskaya Square, where one of Moscow's "Seven Sisters", the so-called Stalinist skyscrapers, stands.

The city's annual night cycling festival has been canceled due to the incident.

The explosion occurred around 6 p.m. local time.

Three dead in explosion at Moscow restaurant – woman carried bomb

Three people have died and another 21 have been injured in an explosion at a restaurant in central Moscow, Russian police told the state news agency Ria Novosti. This is reported by AFP.

A woman is said to have entered the restaurant with a homemade explosive device, Russia's national anti-terrorist unit said according to the state news agency Tass. The woman herself is said to have died in the explosion, in addition to a restaurant guest and a security guard who tried to prevent her from entering.

The explosion is said to have occurred shortly after 17.00 Swedish time.

Several exiled Russian media outlets are reporting that the explosion occurred in a restaurant in one of the so-called Stalin skyscrapers at Kudrinskaya Square.

Unconfirmed reports are circulating in a number of Russian and exiled Russian Telegram channels that the restaurant was booked for a private party for a top Russian general.
