"Chinese support for the war has serious consequences"

There will be serious consequences if Chinese companies support Russia's war in Ukraine. This is the message US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen delivered during her ongoing visit to China, writes the Financial Times.

- They understand what a serious issue this is for us, Yellen said in a statement, according to the US Treasury Department.

The statement comes after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is said to have sent a sharp warning to ministerial colleagues in the EU and NATO this week.

Blinken is said to have said that the regime in Beijing supports Russia with "tools, input and technical expertise" to an "alarming extent", according to the FT's sources.

Zelenskyy: The ammunition is not enough for a counteroffensive

Ukraine's anti-aircraft ammunition risks running out if Russia resumes its intensive bombing. This is what President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says in an interview on Ukrainian television, according to Reuters.

- We have enough ammunition to resist right now, but we are forced to choose which goals to defend, he says.

The weapon system he particularly requests is the American Patriot. The United States has not sent military aid to Ukraine for months because House Republican Speaker Mike Johnson refused to hold a vote.

There is also a shortage of artillery ammunition, says Zelensky.

- We do not have enough ammunition to be able to carry out counter-offensive actions, he says.

Tajikistan: No basis for Kyiv recruiting

Tajikistan's foreign ministry is dismissing the Kremlin's claims that Ukrainian security services recruited the Tajiks suspected of last month's deadly terror attack on the Moscow concert hall. Reuters reports.

- We have noted this baseless claim from the Russian official, says Tajikistan's Foreign Minister Shokhin Samadi according to Russian media.

The official Samadi is referring to Nikolai Patrushev, who is one of President Putin's security advisors who presented the theory this week. Just as on other occasions where Moscow tried to connect the act to Ukraine, Patrushev presented no evidence.

IS has claimed responsibility for the attack and Kyiv has repeatedly denied its involvement.
