The House of Representatives approves legislation that could ban Tiktok
The US House of Representatives on Saturday approved a bill designed to force China's Bytedance to sell Tiktok, according to Bloomberg. If not, the service will be banned in the US within a year.
"This law protects Americans, and especially American children, from the harmful effects of Chinese propaganda," said Republican Michael McCaul.
The Senate is expected to vote on the bill in the coming week, and President Joe Biden has said he will then approve it.

The House of Representatives may force Tiktok to be sold
The US House of Representatives is expected to vote during the day on a quartet of bills, including new support for Israel and Ukraine. That's what NBC News writes.
The support package of the equivalent of just over SEK 1,000 billion includes both military and financial support. If the proposal gets the green light as expected, it will be sent to the Senate for final approval.
At the same time, the House of Representatives must take a position on a proposal that forces Tiktok's owner Bytedance to sell the app within 9–12 months. If the sale is not carried out, Tiktok may be banned in the country. The measure already has the support of both the Senate and President Joe Biden.
Exactly when the vote will take place is not known.
