Sources: US military base attacked from Iraq
At least five rockets were fired at a US military base in northeastern Syria on Sunday. This is stated by two Iraqi security sources for Reuters.
The rockets were fired, according to the information, from the Iraqi city of Zummar. It is not yet clear if the rockets have hit the base or if anyone has been injured.
If the attack is confirmed, it would be the first since the beginning of February, when attacks by Iran-backed forces on American targets in the Middle East ceased, the news agency writes.
The information comes a day after an explosion occurred at an Iraqi military base. The United States then stated that the country was not involved in the incident.

Experts: The support comes in the count's time - now you just have to press the button
Several Ukrainian soldiers with whom the Wall Street Journal spoke agree with President Zelenskyi's call for the new American military support to quickly reach the front.
John Nagl, professor at the U.S. Army War College, tells the newspaper that the support appears to be coming "in the count's time".
- If Zelenskyi does not get this ammunition, he will need an escape route, he says.
He, like the Swedish defense analyst Jörgen Elfving, also believes that it will go quickly before the first part of the 61 billion dollar support package is in place.
- There has been a system to supply Ukraine with military equipment that has been lying fallow, so it's just a matter of pressing the button and running, says Elfving to DN.

Jonson: Not ruling out sending Patriot to Ukraine
Ukraine is in an "extremely difficult" situation right now and it is therefore important that Sweden contributes to the country's defense. This is what Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M) says in SVT's Agenda.
At the top of Ukraine's wish list is the Patriot air defense system. Sweden has four such systems, but Jonson can neither promise nor rule out that something can be spared for the Ukrainian defense.
- We are in a build-up phase of our own air defense. There are many countries that use Patriot, the US has significant resources there. It is possible that we can contribute, we have to look at what the best way is, he says in the program.

127 million Chinese are threatened by massive floods
Heavy
rain threatens to cause major flooding in Guangdong province in
southeastern China. According to state media, water levels in rivers and
tributaries are expected to soon begin to rise to levels that only
occur "once in a century", AFP reports.
Over 127 million people
live in the affected areas. Chinese authorities have increased
preparedness and state weather institutes have issued several weather
warnings, including for strong storms around the coastal areas.
There are no reports of casualties or mass evacuations yet.
Extreme weather has become more common in line with climate change, writes AFP.

"No other country at peace has this much problem with detonations"
Sweden's
problems with explosions are almost unique for a country that is not at
war, says Ardavan Khoshnood, criminologist at Lund University, to SVT.
- No other country in Western Europe, or any other country at peace, has this many problems with detonations.
A
total of 174 explosions have occurred in Sweden from the beginning of
2023, according to SVT's compilation. According to the TV channel, a
large percentage of the explosions can be linked to the theft of
civilian explosives from construction sites
