Donald Trump's "big beautiful bill" could soon become a reality.

But the budget proposal is now receiving harsh criticism - from Elon Musk.

“Shame on you who voted for this. You know you did wrong,” he writes on X.

Tesla owner Elon Musk blasts Donald Trump and the Republicans’ new budget proposal in a post on X.

“Sorry, but I can’t stand it anymore,” he writes.

The massive budget proposal – often called “the big beautiful bill” by Trump – includes increased defense spending and border security. It also extends the tax breaks Trump introduced during his first term as president.

Would increase the national debt significantly

According to calculations by CBS News, if passed, the bill will ultimately increase the US national debt by $3.1 trillion.

“This huge, scandalous and overstuffed congressional budget is a disgusting disgrace,” Musk writes in his post.

He concludes by saying that all members of Congress who vote for the proposal should be ashamed.

To be voted on in the Senate

One of the few Republicans who has expressed criticism of the proposal is Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, among other things because it would raise the US debt ceiling.

This caused Donald Trump to go crazy on Tuesday.

“Rand votes NO on everything, but never comes up with any practical or constructive proposals. His ideas are actually crazy (loser!). The people of Kentucky can’t stand him,” he writes on Truth Social.

The budget proposal narrowly passed the House of Representatives in late May, but it also needs to pass the Senate to become a reality.

Trump himself has said that he expects the proposal to be passed before July 4th.
