Several explosions have occurred around Ukraine.

According to The Guardian, it is a "mass attack".

Images on social media show how a multi-storey building in Kyiv is on fire.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the air traffic alert was activated over Kyiv.

Several explosions were heard in the central parts of the capital and the mayor Vitaly Klitschko then confirmed that rockets had struck two residential buildings. Paramedics and rescue workers are working in the crowds, he says.

Just minutes later, Klitschko announced that another attack had taken place on a multi-storey building.

"In Perchersk, rescue workers have found a dead person. The rescue and search work is ongoing," he writes on Telegram.

Half of Kyiv will be without power after the infrastructure was damaged, Klitschko says.

"The Energy Authority has turned off the power in several places in Ukraine as an emergency measure. It is necessary to balance the power grid and avoid accidents. At least half of the customers in the capital must be without electricity".

The national grid operator Ukrenergo says that the situation is "critical" and that the damage to the electricity system is most serious in the country's northern and central regions, writes The Guardian.

According to Deputy Chief of Staff Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Russia's goal is to knock out the country's infrastructure.

- Russian terrorists have launched another planned attack on energy infrastructure facilities. The situation is critical.

"Stay in the shelters"

Other Ukrainian cities have also reportedly been subjected to attacks. There are reports of explosions in both Kharkiv, Lviv, Poltava, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Chernihiv, Nikopol, Melitopol and Zhytomyr. "80 percent of Lviv is without power. There is no access to hot water. All schoolchildren and preschool children are in shelters with their teachers until the alarm is over," writes Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyj via the Telegram messaging service, confirming that one person has been injured. "Stay in the shelters!", he writes.

According to Nikopol mayor Valentyn Reznitchenko, over 60 explosions were heard over the city. At the same time, Zhytomyr is completely without power, according to mayor Serhij Sukhomlin. Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba is now speaking out about the attacks:

"This is Russia's response to the peace talks. Stop suggesting that Ukraine accept Russia's ultimatum. This terror can only be stopped through weapons and principles," he writes on Twitter.

100 rockets fired

According to air force spokesman Yuriy Ignat, Russia has fired over 100 rockets on Tuesday.

- The occupiers have thus surpassed themselves from 10 October when 84 rockets were fired. This is a massive attack, he says according to Pravda.

According to Ignat, Russia has used strategic bombers that came from the Caspian Sea and the Rostov region. Several Kalibr robots have also been launched from the Black Sea.

Zelensky: Stay in the bomb shelter

According to President Zelensky, another 20 rockets can be expected during Tuesday.

- Stay in the bomb shelters, he says in a video on social media.

Three days ago, the Ukrainian authorities warned that Russia could carry out an attack during the ongoing G20 summit.

 - They wait and gather their strength. They do not have the ability to carry out such a massive attack as on October 10. They are stockpiling and it is approaching, especially the G20 summit, Yuriy Ignat said at the time.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi's chief of staff Andriy Jermak sees the attack as Russian revenge after Zelenskyi's speech at the G20 meeting.
