Several cities without power
Even in Lviv the air raid alarm sounded. The city's mayor Andriy Sadovyi states on Telegram that the entire city is without power.
He also urges everyone to seek shelter and stay in shelters.
“The whole city is without power. We await further information from our energy experts. There may be interruptions in the water supply. Seek shelter," he writes on Telegram.
"All school children and preschool children take shelter together with their teachers. Dear parents, you can pick up your children when the alarms have stopped," he writes further.
Odessa and Kharkiv are also said to be without power, according to Ukrainian authorities.
"We are evacuating people from the subway.
Additional buses have been deployed," writes Ihor Terekhov, mayor of Kharkiv.
"Emergency stops occur in all regions"
The state electricity grid company Ukrenergo states that facilities have been damaged by attacks and that power outages are occurring throughout the country.
"Emergency shutdowns occur in all regions," writes Ukrenergo.
The Rivne and Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plants in the west and the Pivdennoukrainsk nuclear power plant in the south were disconnected from the grid, writes AFP.
This must have taken place as a protective measure in connection with the introduction of an emergency stop, writes Energoatom.
"As soon as the operation of the power system is normalized, the electricity supply from the nuclear power plant will resume," writes the state nuclear power company.
Moldova, which is dependent on the power supply in Ukraine, has in turn suffered from "enormous" power outages, BFMTV reports.
According to the country's infrastructure and deputy prime minister, Andrei Spinu, half the country is without power.

Baby killed in Russian attack
Already during the night of Wednesday, several Russian rockets have struck in Ukraine. Among other things, the hospital in Vilnyansk, in the Ukrainian county of Zaporizhzhya, was hit sometime after midnight.
A two-day-old boy is said to have died in the attack.
"Our hearts are filled with sadness - a baby that had just come into the world has been killed," writes Zaporizhzhia Governor Oleksandr Staruch on Telegram.
Pictures show how an entire wing of the two-story building was razed to the ground. The boy's mother and a doctor are said to have been dug out alive from the rubble.
"The enemy has once again decided to try to achieve with terror and murder what it has not managed to achieve in nine months, and which it will never be able to achieve," announced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Response to the EU's terrorist labeling of Russia
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyi's chief of staff Andriy Yermak, Russia fired a large number of robots on Wednesday in response to the European Parliament's decision to label Russia a terrorist state, La Repubblica reports.
"More cruel robot attacks across the country, as Russia tries to punish Ukraine for the courage to be free," writes the US ambassador in Kyiv, Bridget Brink, on Twitter.
"I know that Russia's attempt to rule over Ukraine by plunging the country into cold and darkness will fail," she adds.
