The European Parliament has been subjected to a cyber attack, the communications director Jaume Duch announces on Twitter.
Parliament's website crashed and the connection in the parliament building is said to have been affected.
It is a so-called DDoS attack that overloaded the website.
"The staff is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible," writes Duch.
The problems arose on Wednesday shortly after parliament voted to label Russia a terrorist organization. Following the decision, Russia has also carried out extensive robot attacks against Ukraine.
- We have a strong indication that it comes from Killnet, which is a hacker with links to Russia.
That is the information I have. But it is under control and only hijacked the external access to the parliament's website, says Eva Kaili, Greek Member of Parliament and Parliament's Vice President to Politico.
The initiative for the resolution that singles out Russia as a "state sponsor of terrorism" was taken by the Swedish member Charlie Weimers (SD) and was voted through with an overwhelming majority.
