Man has set himself on fire at Trump trial: "He is critically injured"
A man has set himself on fire outside the courthouse in New York where the trial against former President Donald Trump is ongoing. This is confirmed by the police to American media.
At a press conference, Police Chief Jeffrey B. Maddrey says that the man is critically injured. Before the man set himself on fire, he distributed leaflets with conspiracy theories.
- As far as his motive is concerned, we classify him as a conspiracy theorist, that's all I can say, says Maddrey.
The indictment against Trump concerns his suspected tax crimes, including in the form of payments to porn star Stephanie Clifford or Stormy Daniels as she is also known. A jury had just been selected when the fire started.

Television companies showed the incident live: "Apologise"
The media gathering before the trial against Donald Trump in New York is huge and several American television companies were present in the park where a person is suspected of setting himself on fire.
Brief sequences of the incident were shown on both Fox News and CNN's live broadcasts from the scene. The anchors of the channel were visibly confused by what happened. In the Fox broadcast, the anchor told that a fire had broken out, when they realized that it was a person who was on fire, they quickly cut to other images.
- We apologize for showing this, Foxankaret said.
CNN's dispatcher at the scene initially said it was an "active shooter" but quickly corrected himself and described the fire in detail to viewers.
Many circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, including the person's injury status.
