The election in the USA The electoral movement
Economist: Not sure that Trump will be lifted for the market
During Donald Trump's last term in office, the financial markets got a real boost, but it may be difficult to repeat that success if the Republican were to win the presidential election again. That's what SEB's macroeconomist Elisabet Kopelman says to Ekonomiekot Extra.
- An important difference is the state of the US government finances, which look significantly worse now, she says in the program.
Therefore, Kopelman believes that promises of unfunded tax cuts this time will not bring the same voter support.

Financial crisis made Birkin the world's most expensive bag
The financial crisis of the 00s created a shift for the luxury brand Hermès, Birkin appreciated. The handbag, which was previously expensive but relatively easy to get hold of, became so sought-after that the second-hand value skyrocketed, writes the Wall Street Journal in a report.
In the years after the crisis, "money was cheap" and alternative investments became hot, which pushed up the price. A Birkin that now costs around 11,400 dollars in stores, can immediately be sold for twice that on the secondary market. This is because it has become so difficult for consumers to wait for it.
To get the chance to buy a Birkin, customers must build a trusting relationship with the store and, according to the WSJ, spend at least $10,000 on other merchandise—steps that are skipped entirely if the bag is purchased second-hand.

- Now we have to be careful. This is a first step and many more are needed, he told reporters in Shanghai.

The development of the Swedish krona
Expensive holidays for Swedes: "Look outside Europe"
Since the bottom last year, the Swedish krona has strengthened around 3 percent against the euro. In theory, it should pave the way for a cheaper summer holiday in Europe, but that is not the case, says SEB's chief strategist Johan Javeus to TT.
He points out that prices on the continent have risen by about the same amount, which means that purchasing power is basically unchanged compared to last year.
Javeus says that those who instead want a cheaper holiday can look outside Europe.
- In several countries in Asia, we have seen currency strengthening. Our currency is strengthened in Indonesia, Thailand, Japan and Vietnam.

The price of coriander is skyrocketing in Mexico – up 400 percent
Crop failures and droughts have caused the price of cilantro to soar 400 percent in recent weeks in Mexico. Now many of the country's taco restaurants are being forced to cut the spice out of their dishes, writes Bloomberg.
The fact that prices have quadrupled in a month is largely due to extreme weather in the country and several restaurants have started to replace coriander with lettuce or parsley. Some markets now cannot afford to buy coriander at all.
